This feature wraps a sketch onto a planar or non-planar face. You can create a planar face from cylindrical, conical, or extruded models. You can also select a planar profile to add multiple, closed spline sketches in Solidworks. The wrap feature supports contour selection and sketch reuse. You can project a wrap feature onto multiple faces.
First, create a solid using extrude, or revolve feature in Solidworks.
Then create a reference plane tangent to the face of this hollow cylinder.
Create the sketch using line tool as well as ‘smart dimension’ tool.
We are going to wrap this sketch to the outer surface of hollow cylinder.
There are two ways to open any feature in SolidWorks.
- By using command line.
- Using tool pallet.
Go to features, select wrap.
Select the face.
Enter the length of thickness to be scraped.
The sketch has been wrapped around the outer surface. Use fillet feature to remove the unaesthetic sharp corners.
