Renders provide the best visual representation of a design. With Solidworks render capabilities the designer is able to put the design an environment that best portrays its functionality, say a motor, milling machines or even engines in a workshop. To be able to do all this in Solidworks we need to enable the Photoview 360 add-in.
You can then proceed to create a render of your part.
Say we wanted to create a render of the motor shown above. What we can do first is adjust the color code by maneuvering through Solidworks extensive color library.
You can start by getting rid of the existing color modifications by going to the edit appearance icon under the render tools tab and selecting remove appearance.
Once you have done this you can now proceed to apply the colors you desire.
Once you’ve picked your preference color you can then proceed to edit the scene. There are already a large collection of scenes in Solidworks’ database
The designer also has the option of inserting their own photorealistic environment by simply browsing for the image that would describe the scene.
Once you have settled on one particular scene you can run the preview render.
Running the final render pulls up an output window that allows you to save this render as an image.
You can save the file anywhere in your desktop and in any image format you would like, whether it’s JPEG or JPG.
As you can see there are so many things one can do with Solidworks because of its extensive capabilities.
That sums it up for the basic render tools. Solidworks makes creating renders such an easy task because it is user friendly allowing most people to quickly learn and get hands on skills without really struggling that much.
