SOLIDWORKS is known for its versatility, and one of its advantages in complex designs is its ability to create advanced holes using the hole wizard feature. In SOLIDWORKS 2018, you can now dimension these advanced multistep holes automatically using the hole callout feature inside the drawings. In this demo, we will be looking at how to use the callout feature. Begin by creating a drawing from a complex part such as the one shown below.
Zoom into the hole you would like to dimension, and then right click on a point close to the hole and select the hole callout feature as shown.
You can then simply click on the hole you require to dimension, and create the dimension at a point you require.
You can change the way the information of the callout is displayed by clicking on the different options under the feature manager tree. Once you are satisfied with your selection, you can click on the green marker at the top of the feature manager tree to set up the callout.
Besides the callout feature, SOLIDWORKS 2018 gives you control over the visibility of cross-hatch patterns.
Clicking on a particular cross hatch pattern pulls up a window in the feature manager tree that lets you specify the properties of that cross hatch pattern. Different layers can be used to change the color, style and cross hatch visibility.
There is so much more you can now do with SOLIDWORKS drawings in SOLIDWORKS 2018.
