Advantages of having CAMWORKS CAD/CAM software in-house

Complex machining jobs can be quickly produced and CNC code quickly generated or modified by having good 3D modelling like Solidworks integrated with good Cam software like Camworks.

3D models can be also imported from other 3D CAD software packages like Inventor, Solid-edge or any other 3D solid modelling or surface modelling software. Simple 2D sketch can also be used to make simple 2.5 axis mill job.

Machining simulation can verify quickly if the operation is correct. Sequence of the operations can be easily changed to suite the job setup and operator's preferences. Collisions with tool or tool holder is easily detected and corrected.

If the tool needs to be changed then tool-path will be quickly, automatically updated to reflect the new parameters of the operation setup and tool size.

Operator having access to this software in-house will be able to automatically generate all the operation parameters, before running it on the machine and be able to modify these if needed.

For an example if the new type of a tool requires different strategy of entry, like instead of plunging suitable for end mill the spiral or ramp type of entry is required for a tool with inserts, this is easily changed within seconds.

Camworks gives full machining capability in assembly. Machine table, rotary indexing table and tombstone, with all the fixtures can be shown to create realistic presentation of the operations.

Parts can be selected which need to be machined and which are fixtures. Producing operation on one item will automatically replicate the operations to all of the identical parts to be machined.

Simulation also allows selecting what are the fixtures for display and which need to be selected to be automatically avoided. This way realistic simulation allows refining the efficiency of the operations.

For an example tools changes can be optimised, depending on the machine characteristics. For an example, is it quicker to change the tool or to index the rotary table? Sorting can be then done automatically to suit either option.

CNC output code is automatically generated to suit the machine. Post processor can be easily generated or modified if needed. Code can be transferred using Predator Edit/DNC, either in file transfer mode or in DNC mode.

Additional information is also generated like tool list or full setup sheet which lists all the operations, tools used, feed rates, spindle speed and time of each operation. This can be customised to suit.
